"Meaningless!  Meaningless!" says the Teacher, "Everything is meaningless!"

MISSIONS: A Main Focus at Galilee

One of the important aspects of a growing church is the emphasis that is placed upon missions. For many years, Galilee Christian Church has been actively involved in teaching out around our community and the world to help establish the message of Christ.

 Foreign Missions

Patrick and Heather Cline are missionaries in Ghana and are affiliated with African Mission Evangelism. They are assisting in the development of a Christian college in Ghana for the purpose of educating West Africans in Christian doctrine.

Jonathan and Heather Powell work assisting the local ministers in Berdyansk, Ukraine. Their work involves them teaching and training many of the local preachers and assisting them in areas that need their expertise.

For many years we have been involved with  Bethshean Mexico Mission where Cris Garcia has been involved in the establishment of a nursing home, the development of a Christian camp, the establishing of churches (with four Mexican ministers on staff), the building of a clinic/ hospital, and now beginning the work of establishing a Bible college. By 2009 the clinic should be in operation offering medical assistance for thousands of area residents. Besides the direct support for Bethshean Mexico Mission, our congregation also supports half of the salary for one of the local Mexican ministers.

Mid-India Mission is led by Vivert Lall and this mission involves a feeding program for hundreds of Indian children, schooling, the establishment of churches, and the training of ministers. Bro. Lall was trained at Atlanta Christian College and has returned to his home country in India to develop this outstanding work.

One of our own members, Miss Bethany Free, returned to Indonesia where her parents have labored for years. She has been working with the victims of the Tsunami which devastated much of that area, teaching English, and guiding them to know Jesus Christ.

Another of our own members, Phil Tatum, after graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in engineering, went to Santiago, Chile, where he and his wife were responsible for establishing a campus ministry for the universities of that area.

Seminary of the Nations is a group of dedicated Bible College professors who travel all over the world teaching classes to ministers and church workers that otherwise would not have the opportunity for such training. This is guided by Dr. Steve Hooks of Atlanta Christian College.

Marty and Jeanette Steiner work stateside with New Mission Systems International, servicing the needs NMSI Missionaries all over the globe, each doing the unique ministry that God has called them to while connected to each other through NMSI and Christians everywhere.

 Local Missions

We are actively involved with two campus ministries in our State. One is at the University of Georgia where Tim Hudson is the campus minister, and the other is at the Georgia Tech Campus Ministry where Rick Harper is campus minister. Both of these minister to hundreds of students in these two institutions and are responsible for the establishment of “GlobalScope” an organization that encourages graduating students to establish campus ministries in foreign countries.

Atlanta Christian College in East Point,GA, has been dedicated to the training of workers for the Kingdom since 1937. This college is accredited by SACS and AABC and offers degrees in a number  of fields with Christian Ministry being the main focus. Besides our direct support to the college, we also offer scholarships to seniors who decide to attend ACC.

Galilee has assisted in the work at Christian City since her inception. Christian City has a large children’s division that receives children who have no homes and places them in a normal home atmosphere. They also have an intermediate care home, a nursing home, and several hundred retirement units. It is truly a city within itself.

With almost fifty acres on Stephens Mountain, North Georgia Christian Camp sits between Helen and Clarkesville. Each year almost 1000 youth attend summer camps. And this facility is used for women’s retreats, men’s retreats, ministers’ retreats, family camp, youth retreats, and dozens of other events related to the church.

 And There Are Others

It is also our joy to be involved with  work right here in our own county. We support the work of the Gideons, the Ark ministry that assists those who have financial needs, and Hope Resource Center. And finally, we have a local benevolence program that assists individuals on an emergency basis.
